Simmons Family Portraits - Opelika Alabama

Ohhhh what a treat it was to work with the Simmons family for family portraits last fall!! From beginning to end, the moments created and captured during this experience were just priceless!

Let’s start at the beginning. Trent is a fellow business owner and Chamber of Commerce member who heard about the different type of experience I offer for my family portrait sessions at one of the meetings. His wife Lindsay had been hoping and asking for some nice family photos, Trent hatched a plan to make that wish come true for her just in time for Christmas! Guys, start taking notes, because the execution of this gift was truly flawless!

Lindsay was told that her gift would be arriving a certain day and time (the appointment we set for their session consultation and planning), so when I arrived at their house, she still had no idea what to expect. She wasn’t sure if I was a nanny, a maid, a personal chef, or some other surprise, but when we told her I was there to plan out a very special family portrait session for them, she was thrilled! And even more so when she learned that she’d also be treated to professional hair and makeup on session day! Fun coincidence - she also happened to know Reid Campbell, the hair and makeup artist, from a previous connection! So it made for a fun reunion.

As we planned the details, it became clear that this session would be perfect to do on their property. Their beautiful home and land with woods and a creek matched perfectly with their personalities and nodded to all the time spent with family in those places. The kids play down at the creek often with each other and their dog Heart, and they all enjoy nature and exploring the outdoors.

The kids were all fantastic for their moment in the spotlight - even the youngest, who her parents described as sometimes being a bit like a bomb waiting to go off haha her caring oldest brother was quick to step in and help when her patience for photos was running thin, and their middle sibling was ready to start the next activity or make a game as a distraction when needed. It was really sweet to see them play with and help each other.

We ended the session with photos on their porch with their dogs, and I just couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. The Simmons chose to enjoy their photos in a beautiful photo album, so I’ll share their images in their designed album page layouts here! Can’t wait for more moments like these in 2024!
